Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he PURGETH it, that it may bring forth more fruit." John 15:1,2.
A young man asked in one of our programmes "Why do believers still pray for purging? Are we not sanctified already? If no, explain in the light of Hebrews 10:10."
That was an intelligent question but it is clear the young man and perhaps his teachers are destitutes in the knowledge of the wholesome word of God.
If a man interprets the word of God out of context, it will be to the detriment of his own soul.
To make a believer see clearly what God inspired the writer to write:
6. A believer must understand that purging is not all about sinful deeds even though sin could be part of what we have to be purged of.
"Wherefore seeing we [that are sanctified] also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us [the sanctified] lay aside every WEIGHT, and the SIN which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us" Heb.12:1 Emphasis mine.
7. A believer must know that purging is a product of love and the mercy of God.
Knowing the sanctified could fall into sin or be laden with things that could hinder them from fruitfulness, Jehovah our loving Father decided to give us a fountain that can never run dry so that we can always have a pool to run to for cleansing paradventure we get our garments defiled.
Thanks to our merciful and loving Father who wish that none of us perish.
O comrade, rather than following the enemy of your soul who deludes you into keeping your garment unwashed/defiled till the bridegroom enters into the house and shut you out, why not embrace this great mercy of our loving Father while it lasts?
"Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts" Hebrews 4:7
Shalom.
