Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he PURGETH it, that it may bring forth more fruit." John 15:1,2.
A young man asked in one of our programmes "Why do believers still pray for purging? Are we not sanctified already? If no, explain in the light of Hebrews 10:10."
That was an intelligent question but it is clear the young man and perhaps his teachers are destitutes in the knowledge of the wholesome word of God.
If a man interprets the word of God out of context, it will be to the detriment of his own soul.
To make a believer see clearly what God inspired the writer to write:
2. A believer must believe that all scripture is truly given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who is also the Spirit of Christ. 1Pet.1:11; Phil.1:9; Rom.8:9.
3. A believer must believe that the Spirit of Christ CANNOT inspire or reveal anything that goes against the spoken and written word of Christ Himself.
Some of the functions of the Holy Spirit are mentioned in the scripture, John 14:26; 15:26; 16:13 enumerates them.
Therefore, whatever revelation anyone claims to have by the Holy Spirit that does not have direct connection with the foundation Jesus Himself laid in the gospels, we must be wary of such revelations.
Deceivers do everything possible within their capacity to shift believers' gaze away from every other part of the scripture and focus them only on the letters, most especially the Pauline letters because it is easy to manipulate and misinterpreted.
Brother Peter wrote concerning Pauline letters:
"Paul writes like this about these things in all his letters. But some of the things that Paul has written in his letters are difficult to understand. And people who do not know much about God explain these things wrongly. Those people are not sure about what they believe. And they explain other things in the Bible wrongly also. As a result, those people themselves cause God to destroy them." 2Pet.3:16 EasyEnglish version.
O comrade, be extremely careful. As I have always say A deceiver is never a blatant liar. Keep away from false teachings and wrong doctrines. It will be to your benefit.
